Hello. My name is Dave Simmler and I am the BD teacher at Barnegat High School. 2021-22 starts my 3rd year in this position, but this is my 20th year of teaching now. Before coming to Barnegat, I taught for 18 years at Coastal Learning Center in Northfield, NJ, also working with the BD population. Nothing has been more rewarding than working with my students and giving them the support and guidance to help them reach their goals and dreams. Now I am excited to bring my experiences to Barnegat and start a new chapter in my educational career here. 

I have lived in Ocean County for almost 25 years now. I graduated from Kingsway Regional High School in Swedesboro, NJ, then persued my Bachelors in Literature from Stockton University and my Masters in Special Education at Rowan University. Teaching has been my passion from a young age when I would "play school" with my friends. 

I am a big movie buff, enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending my summers relaxing on the beach.

I look foward to a successful year in the BD program!
