Mrs. Kaitlyn Mallia

Room 605

Welcome to 5th Grade with Mrs. Mallia!!!

I am so excited to be your teacher this year! :) All my life I knew becoming a teacher was what I was meant to do. As a little girl I would line up my dolls and play school for hours and hours. I would drag my younger brother into my room to be my student and we would play school for hours and hours. I have my both a teaching and communications degree from Rutgers University. GO RU! Family is a VERY big deal to me and it is something I bring to my classroom each and every day. My husband, Kevin Mallia, has been apart of my life for 13 years and we have been married for 6 years. I do not know where I would be without him. He is my rock, support system, and biggest cheerleader no matter what life throws my way. January 23, 2021 I gave birth to my adorable son Lucas Alexander. He is the LIGHT of our families lives!!! I knew I always wanted to be a mother, however, nothing can prepare you for the love you have for your own child. Being a teacher has ALWAYS been one of my favorite titles. However, being a Mommy may take the number one spot now. :) Family stories of my son, husband, parents, brother, sister in-law, and grandparents are brought to each and everyday of our learning experience in my classroom to show my students how much they mean to me by all I share with them.

I have been teaching for 7 years and this will be my 6th year here at Horbelt! I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade!! We will be learning and growing our skills with reading and writing and I look forward to inspiring your child to take ownership, pride, and passion in their work. I believe it is important to instill a sense of self-worth and confidence in my students’ daily performance and going into 5th grade is a perfect place to work on that! They will be given more responsibility and in the process I hope proud of their abilities.

I want you and your child to know that I am always accessible! No day or time is off limits to discuss a concern you may have. Please feel free to contact me on ClassDojo and/or email me at kmallia@barnegatschools.com. I will respond as quickly as I possibly can. I want to make sure nothing is off limits and that you know I am always willing to figure out the best approach to things for you and your child.
