STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
SCIENCE is a way of thinking.
TECHNOLOGY is a way of doing.
ENGINEERING is a way of problem solving.
MATHEMATICS is a way of measuring and calculating.
Barnegat Township School District initiative is to increase the number of students who are college and career ready. In doing so, we have required all students in Grades 7-8 to complete a marking period of STEM. Our STEM department strives to foster critical thinking and real world applications through our STEM subjects. Teachers utilize instructional strategies such as project-based learning, collaboration, innovation, problem solving and inquiry. In successful completion of our STEM program, students will demonstrate growth towards STEM skills, mastery of standards, and habits which will ensure students can effectively compete in our global society.
